Database of Russian Political Elites

The Database of Russian Political Elites (DRPE) contains data on the biographies and career trajectories of over 20,000 Russian political elites between 1993 and 2014.   The database contains information on both central government officials (i.e. government ministers and vice ministers, security council members, presidential administration officials, ruling party leaders, State Duma deputies, Federation Council senators) and regional elites (e.g. governors, vice governors, mayors, regional legislators, regional party secretaries, federal inspectors, regional prosecutors, regional MVD heads, regional tax inspectors, and regional electoral commission heads).  The dataset also contains various electoral data.  A synopsis of available data sources can be found here.  An initial public release of data on regional governors is available here.    Please check this website for updates on releases of other data categories.

Data collection for this project has been supported by the Social Science Research Council, the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research, and the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development at the Higher School of Economics.
